Our take: choose a control hub because you need its control and connection roles. A longer feature list is not, by itself, a reason to replace a working music system.

Evidence note. This is a specification-based product guide, not a HiFiNaija listening test. Nigerian stock, local prices, account-level service availability and local warranty handling have not been verified for this article.

Its useful difference

The Ultra combines network playback with HDMI ARC, phono input, a headphone connection and a dedicated subwoofer output. Its analogue and digital outputs feed other equipment; it does not contain the speaker power amplifier required for passive speakers. Official overview

The question is not how many of those features look attractive. It is how many solve an identifiable problem in your own listening routine. Write those problems down before comparing prices.

The early stop-check

Ultra is absent from WiiM's supported AirPlay receiver list and explicitly listed as unsupported. Owning an iPhone does not automatically rule it out, but requiring native AirPlay reception does. Do not make a purchase on the expectation that a future update will add a missing feature. Current AirPlay list

When it earns a place

It is a plausible candidate when the extra connections can replace separate boxes or simplify an awkward routine. That is a system-design judgement, not a listening result. An existing receiver may already perform much of that work; compare what you would remove, not only what you would add.

Nor should a TV connection be mistaken for evidence that a device is a full home-cinema receiver. This page makes no unverified promise about surround decoding, multichannel speaker operation or firmware-dependent formats.

When to keep a simpler source

If you use one streaming source into an amplifier that already handles everything else, you may not need a more elaborate front end. Consider the time spent changing settings, not just the physical space saved. A device is easier to live with only when its control scheme fits the way the household listens.
