Desktop audio

A desk system should solve a practical need: source switching, headphone control, active-speaker connection or a clearer listening routine.

Separate the product claim from the listening claim.

Our product pages identify whether a point comes from official documentation, independent evidence or editorial guidance. They do not present a specification as a local listening test.

Explore DACs & headphone amps

Start with one complete connection path

For a computer and wired headphones, the basic route is computer to a supported USB DAC/headphone amplifier, then headphones. Select that device in the computer sound settings as well as in the music or meeting app. A cable that charges a device may not carry data. Test one source and one output before adding a hub, monitor or second audio interface.

Headphones, powered speakers and passive speakers

A headphone output, a line output and a speaker output have different jobs. Powered speakers normally need a line-level source; passive speakers need a power amplifier. Check the manual before connecting outputs, and start with volume low. A DAC alone does not turn passive speakers into a complete system.

The FiiO K11 R2R guide explains its desktop role. For a purchase decision, use the headphone and DAC checklist. Keep K11 and K11 R2R model names separate when looking for firmware or support.
