Our take: choose headphones for the way you will use them. The right form, fit and connection can matter more to the decision than collecting additional electronics.

Evidence note. This is a specification-based product guide, not a HiFiNaija listening test. Nigerian stock, local prices, account-level service availability and local warranty handling have not been verified for this article.

Know which headphone you are considering

The FT1 is a wired, closed-back dynamic headphone. FiiO lists 32-ohm impedance and separate 3.5 mm and 4.4 mm source cables in its standard package. Those are manufacturer specifications, not a claim about the contents of any particular local or used listing. Official FT1 page

Do not confuse FT1 with FT1 Pro or use a review of one as direct proof of the other's behaviour.

Make room for the everyday questions

Can you wear it comfortably for the length of a normal session? Does its cable fit how you sit and move? Can you try it, and what happens if its fit is wrong for you? Those questions remain important even when the technical specification looks attractive.

This page does not provide a measured isolation figure or a listening verdict. A closed enclosure is not evidence of a particular real-world noise-reduction result in your environment.

Do not automatically add a DAC

Try the headphone with the suitable equipment you already have. Name the remaining problem before choosing another component. A desktop box may be useful for control or connectivity; it should not be treated as an unavoidable entry fee for using wired headphones.

Ownership note: early pivot-joint reports

FiiO acknowledged screw loosening in some early FT1/FT1 Pro batches and described a production change from 20 November 2024. Its support notice directs affected owners to the seller or FiiO support. The statement is a manufacturer response, not independent proof that every later unit is problem-free. FiiO notice

The linked SoundPath Lab issue record separates this from a different, FT1 Pro-specific low-frequency report. Do not apply that second report to all FT1 headphones. Production date should not be inferred from purchase date. Scoped issue record

Ask who handles a genuine fault before paying, but do not assume that every unit is affected. A useful product guide includes both the reason to consider a product and the limits of the evidence available.
